Why did you decide to pursue personal training?
After being diagnosed as a Type 1 Diabetic when I was 15, personal training became a passion and something that I had always wanted to pursue. It was appealing to help other people but also to hold myself accountable.
What would you want someone to know who is considering personal training?
There is a huge variance of quality in this industry- after the 18 years of experience I have acquired and with all the trainers I know, I would only let a few of them train my mother. Make sure to always get to know your trainer and make sure you can see that they are educated and passionate about YOU! We truly care about results here, and sometimes that could mean having some tough conversations to break habits and push yourself harder.
What is your personal training philosophy?
I believe in being detailed around overall lifestyle accountability so that real momentum can get started. Of course, it's my job to gain trust first, so someone can be honest about some bad habits that we can work on together. My workouts would be described as "efficient". I keep all my clients moving and don't waste a minute of time. My voice is loud and I make sure to always cue my clients to proper form and avoiding injury.
Favorite exercise?
Deadlift. It was one of the hardest exercises for me to do correctly at first, but the most beneficial to my training!
Biggest food temptation?
The combination of peanut butter and chocolate is my weakness.
